OHSU names new leaders at the Center for Biomedical Data Science

Sadik Esener, Ph.D., will serve as the interim director while retaining his role as CEDAR director. The center is a collaboration with the University of Oregon to empower researchers at both institutions to attack cancer with big data. With the OHSU leadership team now in place, OHSU Knight Cancer Institute Director Brian Druker, M.D., says the next priority will be to build a world-class faculty of computational scientists.

Knight Cardiovascular Institute seeks fellows for advanced specialty research training

The OHSU School of Medicine Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI) launched a fellowship program in July, called Training in Translational Science and Cardiovascular Research. With five years of new T32 funding from the National Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood, the program will accept three fellows each year for two years of training. Applications are due Oct. 30.

Chief Research Officer seeking basic science leader

The OHSU Office of Research and Innovation is seeking an associate vice president for basic research. At 0.2 FTE, this position would report to Chief Research Officer Peter Barr-Gillespie, serving as an advisor on basic science research and as scientific leader for the University Shared Resources program. Applications for ELAM and ELH are now open; OHSU internal deadline October 23

The Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) is a well-established, 1-year fellowship that prepares senior female faculty to take on leadership roles in academic medicine, dentistry and public health. The newer Executive Leadership in Health Care (ELH) program is similar, but designed for those interested in health care operations. Applications are being accepted for the 2024-2025 class.


 
School of Medicine revives tradition of welcoming new faculty
The Oct. 4 event is for faculty who joined the School of Medicine since July 1, 2020. Sponsored by the Offices of Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development, the reception is a chance to meet, greet and learn about opportunities in the school. Invitations have gone out, with reminders coming.
